Quattroporte GTS
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts…wonderfully. The flagship of the Trident is the fastest, most powerful, most luxurious automobile in 101 years of Maserati history. 53 years ago, we were the first to put a V8 racing engine in a luxury sedan, and we continue the tradition with our exclusive benchmark: Quattroporte GTS—the world’s ultimate supersedan.
The Maserati Quattroporte GTS is an extraordinary car, in part due to its impressive and inimitable design. Since 1963, the challenge of stylistically combining the sporting performance and the classical elegance of the most famous Italian luxury sedan has fascinated the greatest designers: Pietro Frua, Bertone, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Marcello Gandini and Pininfarina. The Quattroporte GTS represents the epitome of the Maserati philosophy; styled in line with tradition to represent the perfect synthesis of luxury and power.
Exterior
Although considerably larger in size, the new Maserati Quattroporte GTS is a worthy successor to its forebears, retaining a streamlined and utterly dynamic look. The first detail of this unmistakable design is the distinctive front end: the traditional Maserati oval grille, which leads on to the majestic hood and the front headlight assemblies, with LED day lights, stylistic features that make the Quattroporte immediately recognizable.
The lines of the Maserati Quattroporte GTS, designed around a powerful engine, enclose a spacious interior and are the result of in-depth research in the wind tunnel. The large-scale aerodynamic styling of the car’s undercarriage optimizes airflow beneath its body, reducing wind resistance. Even the subtle rear spoiler is designed to generate downforce at high speeds.
Performance
Throughout its history, Maserati has been famed for its innovative engine design. In this respect, the 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 installed in the Quattroporte GTS sets new standards, with a long list of sophisticated solutions that make this the most high-tech design ever installed in a Maserati automobile. With 523 HP, it allows the Quattroporte to achieve a top speed of 191 mph (307 km/h).
The 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with auto-adaptive software is lighter and more efficient than the previous generation and allows even faster gear shifts. The last two speeds are specially developed to reduce fuel consumption, lower noise, and increase comfort during long journeys at high speed. There are five operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual Sport and I.C.E. (Increased Control Efficiency).
Interior
Stepping into the Maserati Quattroporte GTS is like entering an exclusive lounge. Although extremely intuitive, the onboard controls are understated so that they don’t steal the limelight from the real stars: the fine surfaces and luxurious materials. Sumptuous Italian Premium leather, elegant stitching details and fine wood trim emphasize the sleek lines of the dashboard, central tunnel and doors, enveloping the passengers in an atmosphere of luxury.
